India has packaging institute in every state, where we do not have any institute in our country. With a view to establish a Institute, a study was done by International Trade Center (ITC) funded by EU where they have proposed to establish a Packaging Institute in Bangladesh in order to produce quality type of Garments accessories & Packaging products. As per their findings, Government support & assistance is needed for capacity building,  access to finance, Infrastructural facilities, Technology & Product quality to boost up this largest SME sector & to make hassle free export. It is our cherished dream to set up a Garments Accessories & Packaging Institute for the development of this sector in Bangladesh. We have been pursuing different donor agencies for last several years. Finally International Trade Center (ITC) and the European Union (EU) have agreed to finance & conduct survey for development of Packaging sectors in Bangladesh. Accordingly they have conducted survey in accessories & packaging sectors and submitted a report to the Government.

This Association has also decided to set up a BGAPMEA Institute of Packaging & Accessories (BIPA) in Bangladesh. A feasibility study was undertaken by the Association in cooperation with the European University of Bangladesh under Bangladesh INSPIRED Project funded by the EU & Ministry of Industry, GoB. In the feasibility report, a training Institute is recommended for skill manpower for flourishing this sector. In the mean time, we got an Institutional Plot about 01 acre of land of Rajuk located at Purbachal. We are also trying to pursue with Bangladesh Govt. for setting up this Institute as early as possible.

Moreover, we have already set up a Testing Laboratory along with BGAPMEA Secretariat located at 273/3, West Manikdi (3rd floor), ECB Chattar-Mirpur DOHS Link Road, Dhaka Cantonment, Dhaka-1206 only for the different type of paper packaging product's tests, This laboratory was needed to make our products competitive in the global market & to meeting quality standards internationally. Now exporters of these sectors may avail of the facilities for testing of cartons. We are pleased to inform that government has taken initiatives for setting up "Garment Accessories Industrial Park" considering importance of this sector at Bangabandhu Industrial Park, Mirsarai, Chattogram.
